At Asheville Children’s Medical Center, our medical providers consist of 4 physicians and 1 physician assistant. Together, we have over 90 years of cumulative experience caring for children!


We are deeply committed to our patients and our practice. We truly work as a group practice; from our front desk receptionists who greet you with a smile when you walk in, to our compassionate phone and floor nurses here to help and answer your questions, to our knowledgeable and caring medical providers. We strive to know your family.


Our patients are welcome to see any of our physicians, or all of our physicians, or establish care with one physician and we will always try to accommodate your request.

Brigette D. Fogleman, M.D.

North Carolina — Brigette D. Fogleman, M.D. in Asheville, NC

Dr. Fogleman believes in caring for the whole child, both emotionally and physically. She is the mother of two beloved sons, in middle and high school. She devotes much of her time to her family and community. She serves on the Immunization Coalition for Buncombe County and enjoys being active outdoors with hiking, camping, and fishing. She also enjoys travel, and has been to Malawi, Africa on a medical mission trip.


Dr.Fogleman graduated from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and completed residency at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida. She joined Asheville Children’s Medical Center in 2005 and is currently a Partner/Owner.  Dr. Fogleman is a board-certified pediatrician and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Fogleman has active privileges at Mission Hospital.

Colby L. Grant, M.D.

Buncombe County — Colby L. Grant, M.D. in Asheville, NC

As an Asheville native, Dr. Grant returned home to join Asheville Children’s Medical Center in 2006. She is the mother of two children and enjoys camping and skiing with her husband and family and is an amateur artist. Dr. Grant cares for both English and Spanish speaking children and is an active advocate for children’s health issues.


Dr. Grant is a Wake Forest alumnus and graduate of East Virginia Medical School. She completed a pediatric residency at The Children’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado.


Dr. Grant is a Partner/Owner and a board-certified pediatrician. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Grant has active privileges at Mission Hospital. She is a faculty member of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Medical School Asheville Campus and has been since its establishment.


Samuel M. Kohn, M.D.

Newborns — Samuel M. Kohn, M.D. in Asheville, NC

Dr. Kohn is the father of three active boys and enjoys anything outdoors with his family, from walking the dog to hiking the Appalachian Trail. He welcomes the opportunity to partner with families in caring for their children and believes strongly in preventative care and health maintenance. As a former Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana, South America, he is aware of the influence of a family’s culture and belief system in their medical care. On Thursdays you might find him shopping at Goodwill.


Dr. Kohn graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completed his Pediatric Residency training at Seattle Children’s Hospital. He is happy to be in North Carolina, close to family and friends.


Dr. Kohn joined Asheville Children’s Medical Center in 2009 and is a Partner/Owner. He is a board-certified Pediatrician and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Kohn has active staff privileges at Mission Hospital. He is a faulty member of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Medical School Asheville Campus and has been since its establishment.


Maggie Bevilacqua, M.D.

Toddlers — Maggie Bevilacqua in Asheville, NC

A native of Western North Carolina, Dr. Bevilacqua returned home and joined Asheville Children’s Medical Center in 2016. She loves taking care of children of all ages and enjoys partnering with families to achieve the best care. She is the mother of two children. In her free time, Dr. Bevilacqua enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and taking advantage of the outdoor activities that the beautiful WNC mountains have to offer.


Dr. Bevilacqua attended the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill for both undergraduate and medical school, with a break in between in which she taught middle school through Teach for America. She completed her pediatric residency at Seattle Children’s Hospital and practiced in Seattle for three years before joining Asheville Children’s Medical Center. She is proficient in Spanish and has taken several trips to Latin America for clinical and public health work. 


Dr.Bevilacqua is a board certified pediatrician and is a member of The American Academy of Pediatrics. She has active staff privileges at Mission Hospital.

Kelly H. Klaaren, PA-C

Infants — Kelly H. Klaaren, PA-C in Asheville, NC

Kelly is the mother of two wonderful girls and enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, gardening, and playing badminton.


Ms. Klaaren completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. She continued her education at Duke University and received a Masters of Health Science and completed the Physician Assistant Program.


She is certified with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is licensed with the North Carolina Medical Board. She has worked at Asheville Children’s Medical Center since 1999, and greatly enjoys caring for children of all ages.
